About Kiyoshi KUROSAWA
黒沢清

Kiyoshi KUROSAWA, born in Kobe in 1955, started his career as an assistant director for Shinji SOMAI, among others. He had his international breakthrough with CURE (1997 / NC ’16). He received the Prix Un Certain Regard in Cannes twice: for TOKYO SONATA (NC ’16) in 2008 and for JOURNEY TO THE SHORE (NC ’16) in 2015. Since 2005, he has been teaching at the Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2016, he received the NIPPON HONOR AWARD at the Nippon Connection Film Festival.

Akira works as an assistant at the very institute that gives the film its title. Most of his work is bureaucratic drudgery, so he is gradually losing his enthusiasm. Full of irony and precise observations on social disasters, this film is a promising debut from a talented newcomer.

About Yuichiro SAKASHITA
坂下雄一郎

Yuichiro SAKASHITA, born in Hiroshima in 1986, studied first at Osaka University of Arts, later at Tokyo University of the Arts. He began his career as a director with his short film BEATLES in 2011, winning an award at Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival. KANAGAWA UNIVERSITY OF FINE ARTS, OFFICE OF FILM RESEARCH (2013 / NC ’14) was his graduation film as well as his first feature film. His second feature film ANY WAY THE WIND BLOWS (2017) marked his entry into mainstream cinema and had its premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival.
