Yokoso ¼

Yokoso! Welcome!

From June 2 to 7, 2026, we warmly invite you to join us in discovering Japanese (cinema) culture in Frankfurt am Main. The program features over 140 short and feature-length films across various genres as well as more than 80 workshops, lectures, exhibitions, performances, and concerts. And at the Japanese market on the grounds of the festival venues Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm and Produktionshaus NAXOS, you can experience Japanese culture from new perspectives.

On June 6, a jury will present the NIPPON ANIMATION SHORTS AWARD for the first time, a prize sponsored by Wacom to promote emerging talent in the field of animation. The thematic focus SHADES OF REALITY – BETWEEN TRUTH AND FICTION, supported by Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, explores the tension between staging and reality. The retrospective is dedicated to actor Tatsuya NAKADAI. The guest of honor is actress Anna YAMADA, who will receive the NIPPON RISING STAR AWARD on June 7, presented by KYOCERA Document Solutions.

We would like to thank Timon Gremmels, Hessian State Minister of Science and Research, Arts and Culture; Mike Josef, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt am Main; and the Consulate General of Japan in Frankfurt am Main for their patronage as well as all our partners, supporters, and sponsors!

We are looking forward to seeing you and hope you have a great experience at the 26th Nippon Connection Film Festival!
