Tokiko and her lover, the criminal Joji, spend their time in billiard parlors, boxing clubs, and dance halls. When the traditional-minded Kazuko enters their lives, they start questioning their lifestyle. Yasujiro OZU is known for his family dramas, but also made several gangster films during the silent film era.
