Thirdgrader Kotoko shares a cramped flat with her seven family members. But rather than living a happy family life, she'd prefer to be special like the children in her class that have to wear eyepatches, stutter or suffer from cardiac dysrhythmia. With visual finesse, director Isao YUKISADA takes us into Kotokos world, which breathes childlike lightheartedness but is occasionally intruded by the darker features of the adult world.

About Isao YUKISADA
行定勲
Isao YUKISADA was born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1968. He attended Toho Gakuen Film Techniques College and worked as an assistant director to Shunji IWAI, among others. His second feature film SUNFLOWER (2000) won the prestigious FIPRESCI award at the 5th Busan International Film Festival. YUKISADA has also made a name for himself as a theater director.
