In ORNAMENTAL HAIRPIN, Hiroshi SHIMIZU tells a tender love story set against the backdrop of World War II. Wounded soldier Nomura recovers in a bathhouse, where he sustains another injury by stepping on a lost hairpin. The owner of the pin turns out to be Emi (Kinuyo TANAKA), who then travels from Tokyo to apologize. Both begin to develop feelings for each other – despite knowing that the soldier will have to return to the war after his recovery.
