Spaces In Between: Indie Animated Shorts From Japan

Nippon Visions   ½

This programme of new and rare shorts explores concepts of time and space as expressed through animation. Demonstrating a wide range of styles and techniques including stop motion, experimental, hand drawn, paint-on-glass and mixed media, these films challenge us to look at the world around us from new and exciting perspectives. Included in the programme is Atsushi WADA’s THE GREAT RABBIT, which won the Silver Bear at this year’s Berlinale. The programme was compiled by Dr. Catherine Munroe Hotes (Nishikata Film Review).
